General Information: The dandelion is a very abundant weed found in lawns, fields, and waste places throughout our area blooming from early spring to late fall and occasionally during the winter. This familiar weed grows from 2" to 18" and belongs to the Composite family.
The leaves are jagged-cut, growing at the base of a leafless, hollow stalk. The yellow disc-like flower heads are 1" to 2" wide. The seeds are brown and are connected to white, feathery structures that are easily carried by the wind, by touch, or by a human's breath.
