General Information: Sheep sorrel, also known as field sorrel and red sorrel, is a member of the Buckwheat family, growing 4” to 15” high.  Plants are found in acidic soils and are an abundant and persistent weed of dry fields, lawns, and gardens.  It is a slender, smooth, and sour tasting perennial with arrow-shaped leaves with flaring lobes.  Blooming from April to September, the plant has reddish or greenish flowers in branching, leafless racemes.
