General Information: This plant is also called jewelweed. It is commonly found in moist places throughout the area. They are in bloom from the summer until the early fall. Jewelweeds are annuals which grow from 3' to 5' tall and are members of the Touch-Me-Not family.

The leaves are egg-shaped and toothed. The stem is succulent. The lower leaves are alternately arranged. The orange flowers have red-brown spots and a bent spur underneath, parallel to the flower (hook-like). The fruit is a plump pod that bursts when it is ripe or touched, hence the name touch-me-not.
