General Information: A tree of medium size with smooth, dark-brown bark. It can mostly be found along streets or sidewalks because of its elaborate foliage and ability to provide shade.

Its leaves are simple, palmately lobed, and oppositely arranged along the branches. The leaves are bright green and shiny beneath. They are generally 5" across at the widest point. The leaves also secrete a milky sap when the leaf stem is broken.

The fruit are wide-spreading wings that mature in the fall.
